DOHA: Filipinos who have renewed their passports here may be spared the trouble of going to the embassy to claim their passports once the agreement between Q-Post and the Philippine Embassy is signed.

The agreement which is now being prepared will see Q-Post delivering the new passports to Filipinos here within Q-Post’s E-government services. This will help Passport holders to take advantage of extended working hours of Q-Post and delivery will be done at their address.

“The signing of this agreement with the Embassy of the Philippines will bring many benefits to all parties, whether for Q- Post or the embassy and Filipinos in Qatar. To facilitate this, Q-Post is very keen and will take every care to provide the finest and the best possible services to the embassy,” said Abdul Rahman Al Oqaili, President of General Postal Corporation.

Al Oqaili was speaking on the sidelines of the recent visit of Philippine Ambassador Crescente R Relacion to Q-Post. “This will be for the benefit of Filipinos here who don’t have the time to collect their passports at the Embassy,” Ambassador Relacion told The Peninsula yesterday.

Once the passport is received at the Embassy, Q-Post will pick it up and the owner of the passport will have the option of to picking it from Q-Post or have it delivered to him, said Relacion. He said they are in the process of finalising the agreement and that Manila is encouraging this agreement for the convenience of Filipinos here.
