KHARTOUM: The Sudanese government has appreciated the Qatari leadership’s support in warding off the effects of floods and rains that swept many areas of the country.
The representative of the Human Aid Commissioner in Sudan, Mahmoud Shams Al Din, said in remarks last evening while receiving three Qatari planes carrying 48 tonnes of relief, shelter and health materials on the directives of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani that Qatar was the first country to provide humanitarian aid to those affected.
The Sudanese official pointed out that Qatar maintained honourable positions with Sudan in all aspects, especially in the areas of disasters of which Sudan has been suffering.
The acting charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Qatar in Sudan was on hand to receive the aircraft carrying Qatari aid.
