Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has significantly expanded its Community Responsibility Project for private schools and kindergartens, increasing the total number of study seats available under the initiative to 13,627, up from 9,257, in a move aimed at widening access to quality education for eligible families across Qatar.
The Ministry’s Private Schools Licensing Department said the increase follows the participation of additional private schools and nurseries in the initiative, reflecting the growing commitment of private educational institutions to their social responsibility and their contribution to providing educational opportunities for deserving students.
The Ministry in a statement, said that the project offers a range of educational support, including fully funded study seats, discounted-fee seats, seats covered through the Educational Voucher Program, and dedicated places for students with disabilities.
The initiative will continue to expand to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry and private education providers while supporting eligible families in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Community Responsibility Project enables private schools and kindergartens to contribute directly to society by allocating educational seats to students from eligible families. The initiative is designed to promote equal educational opportunities, support low-income households, and provide students across different academic stages with access to high-quality and specialised education.
In addition to free and discounted seats, participating schools also offer free places for students with disabilities, Educational Voucher Programme seats for eligible Qatari students, and, in some cases, completely free evening education programmes.
Students can enrol in schools offering a variety of curricula, including the British, Indian, American, and the national curriculum, allowing families to choose educational pathways that best suit their children’s needs.
The Ministry emphasised that all seats awarded through the initiative are sustainable, meaning beneficiaries retain their place until graduation, ensuring long-term educational stability for students and their families.
To ensure support reaches those most in need, the Ministry has established clear eligibility criteria. Families applying for free study seats must have a monthly household income not exceeding QR10,000, while applicants for discounted seats must have an income of QR15,000 or less.
For Educational Voucher Programme seats allocated to Qatari students, the family’s actual monthly income must not exceed QR30,000.
The Ministry described the initiative as a major step toward enhancing access to quality education for students from diverse economic and social backgrounds, enabling them to study in high-quality private schools that meet their educational aspirations.
It also urged eligible families to prepare for the upcoming electronic application process to benefit from these sustainable educational opportunities, which form part of the State’s broader efforts to promote educational equity and achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Officials noted that the project represents a qualitative leap in integrating the private education sector into Qatar’s social support system, adding that the diversity of available seats, their long-term sustainability, and the transparent eligibility criteria contribute to a fair distribution of educational assistance while ensuring that support reaches those who need it most.
