Tokyo: Japan's unemployment rate stayed unchanged at 2.5 percent in June for the third straight month, government data showed Friday.
The number of people with jobs in June was down 0.5 percent at a seasonally adjusted 68.46 million, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said.
Of those out of work, 10,000 were let go, up 2.5 percent from May, while 10,000 people left their jobs voluntarily, up 1.4 percent.
Those newly seeking jobs decreased 3.9 percent to 490,000, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, separate data showed that the average job availability ratio edged up 0.01 point from May to 1.18, the first rise in four months, meaning there were 118 jobs available for every 100 jobseekers, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
By industry, of the 11 sectors, services and manufacturing saw more job openings, up 11.5 percent and 10.4 percent, respectively, while three sectors reported fewer job offers, with declines of 6.4 percent in information and communications, 2.6 percent in wholesale and retail, and 2.2 percent in education.
