DOHA: As part of preparations for the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, to be held in Doha in April 2015, a meeting was held between Qatari and Chinese delegations in Beijing, the capital of China.
The Qatari delegation was headed by the chairman of the organising committee, Major General Dr Abdullah Yusuf Al Mal, and included Dr Sultan Salmeen Al Mansouri, the Ambassador of Qatar to China, and Dimitri Vlassis, Chief of Corruption and Economic Crime Branch, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
The Chinese delegation was headed by the Director General of the Legislative and Foreign Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Justice, and included officials from the Chinese ministries of justice, security and foreign affairs and the supreme court.
During the meeting, they discussed key topics to be addressed during the congress, most importantly the integration of crime prevention and criminal justice into the United Nations agenda in order to address social and economic challenges and strengthen the rule of law at the national and international levels.
