Doha: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Doha organised an event yesterday to express solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In the beginning of the ceremony, the national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir were played. During the event, flags of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and appropriate posters and placards were also displayed.
The Charge d’Affaires Masood Gul also addressed the gathering. “Government and people of Pakistan are deeply saddened at the plight of the Kashmiri brothers. By repealing Article 370 of its constitution on August 5, 2019, India has proved that it does not care about the decisions of the UN Security Council,” he said, adding that no unilateral step by the Government of India can change this disputed status, as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. “Nor will this ever be acceptable to the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan.”
The Charge d’ Affaires highlighted that India has imposed a curfew for an indefinite period in occupied Jammu & Kashmir and detained the elected representatives there. He said that these actions of India are part of a plan by the ruling party of India to deprive the Kashmiris of their right to self-determination. “After repealing Article 370 of the Constitution of India, the rest of Indians will have the right to acquire property and settle permanently in Kashmir in order to introduce demographic changes,” he said. He further stated that people of Pakistan pay tribute to the Kashmiri brothers for their sacrifices for freedom.
He affirmed that Pakistan stands by Kashmiris and “we will continue our political, moral and diplomatic support for struggle of achieving self-determination”. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Pakistani community based in Qatar and expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
