Expatriate dies, two nationals injured in traffic accident

DOHA: The Emergency Department at the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) received 10 cases of traffic accidents on Monday, in which one expatriate died and two citizens sustained serious injuries, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday.

It is however not clear whether the accidents had any connection with the bad weather that affected some parts of the country on that day.

The Emergency Department received as high as 1,480 cases on the day, majority of which was related with eating disorders and seasonal illnesses.

The paediatric emergency at Al Sadd also was flooded with visitors during the holidays, with their number going up to 1.200 on the fourth day of Eid.

The cases were high because the holidays coincided with the changing weather conditions. A majority of the patients were suffering from cold, influenza and respiratory problems, the daily said quoting an official. The Peninsula
