DOHA: Interpol is coordinating with Qatari Police to locate a man accused of stealing QR100,000 from several shops in Lulua Island, Al Raya daily newspaper reported yesterday.
The Qatari Police and Interpol have joined forces to intensify the search of the alleged thief who is known to have fled the country. The man was caught on tape by surveillance cameras. The video was viewed by the police following a complaint from an owner of one the stores.
The investigation team began inquires immediately after the receiving the notice. They went over to the store, listened to the testimonies of those affected and checked the surveillance camera in the surrounding area.
The recording showed a person entering the shop and allowed the police to follow up until the thief left the market. Further investigations have revealed that after taking the money, the man had left the country. Consequently, legal action was taken and the collaboration with Interpol to catch the thief began.
