Islamabad: A woman and two children were killed when a rocket fired from an unknown location hit a house yesterday, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
According to reports, a woman and her two children were killed while her husband and a child injured when roof of the house collapsed after rocket attack.
The dead and injured were taken to the District Hospital Charsadda.
Gunmen kill two policemen
RAWALPINDI: At least two policemen were killed and another was injured along with a passer-by as unknown persons opened fire near an imambargah in Dhoke Syedan area of Rawalpindi yesterday.
The policemen were posted near an imambargah in Rawalpindi’s Dhoke Syedan area where they were performing their duties when they came under attack from unknown motorcycle-riding gunmen. At least four persons, including three policemen and a passerby, were injured in the attack who were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Two of the wounded cops succumbed to their injuries during treatment whereas the condition of the other two wounded was reported as critical by hospital sources.
Border security to be beefed up
Kabul: The top Afghan and Pakistani security officials will meet in the near future to discuss steps for improving border management between the two nations.
Sartaj Aziz, National Security and Foreign Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has said that Islamabad is looking to impose great control over the country’s porous western borders with Afghanistan.
Aziz said that Pakistan will expedite visa issuance process and special passes will be issued to people from the border region in a bid to facilitate their cross-border movements, according to the Afghan.
Rescue 15 gets 1.4m hoax calls
LAHORE: The performance review of Rescue 15 has pointed out that police received 1.413 million bogus and meaningless calls out of total 1.610 million till Dec 29 in the current year.
According to a press release, a meeting held on Monday with Mujahid and Mobiles SP Muhammad Masoom in the chair decided to arrange awareness programmes about importance of Rescue 15 among citizens and children very soon.
The decision was taken to educate people not to dial the number for unnecessary, fake and obnoxious calls. Out of 7,000 calls received on a daily basis, up to 700 calls were genuine.
