Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has diverted part of Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Road, starting from east of Al Wajbah Roundabout to east of Al Qalah Roundabout.
Ashghal said in a statement that the existing road comprising a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction will be closed and diverted to a new parallel road with the same capacity.
It said the new temporary road was built to allow upgrading works on the old road, and the diversion will last until Q3, 2016.
It urged road users to abide by traffic rules and follow instructions on signs installed along the diversion to ensure their safety and prevent accidents.
It also urged road users to abide by the assigned speed limit of 50kmph along the diversion to ensure their safety and the safety of their properties and avoid any surprises on the road.
The diversion is designed and implemented based on the speed limit, and exceeding it can put motorists and their families in danger.
The diversion is a fundamental part for starting works of the first phase of construction and upgrading of Al Rayyan Road project. The new road will built in the same alignment as the existing one which requires its removal at the first place. QNA
