DOHA: Work on the third phase of the C-Ring Road project begins tomorrow, the Public Works Authority — Ashghal — said yesterday.
The third phase extends from the middle point between Rawdat Al Khail and New Slata intersections to the middle point between Rawdat Al Khail and Al Mansoura intersections.
On Rawdat Al Khail Street, it extends from the front of Al Shefa Polyclinic to the front of the Dispute Resolution Commission.
One of the three lanes in each direction will remain closed during the work, which is scheduled to be completed in two-and-a-half months.
All entrances to residential areas and commercial establishments will remain open throughout the period, said Ashghal.
Works on this phase will include widening of the road to four lanes, increasing the capacity to meet the current and future traffic load and improving its overall design.
All four phases of the project are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2015.
Meanwhile, Ashghal announced the closure of a section of Al Rayyan Park (Al Busat Al Akhdar) adjacent to Al Rayyan Road for reconstruction work in the area.
During the partial closure, there will also be renovation work in the park.
It will represent the first phase of a significant upgrade to be carried out by Ashghal in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning that will be concluded in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The renovation work will cover various facilities in the park, including the fence, walkways and the lighting system.
A jogging track will be built in the park so visitors can have a wider choice of sports.
