DOHA: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has taken steps to extend working hours at Mesaimer health centre during the weekend with a vaccination clinic for children.
The centre will start working during the weekend from January 2.
It will open on Fridays from 4pm to 11pm and on Saturdays from 7am to 2pm and from 4pm to 11pm.
The vaccination clinic for children will be open on Saturdays in the morning.
Khamis Al Khaldi, Regional Director, western region, PHCC, said extended hours at the centre aim to benefit patients and improve services.
He said the extended work time will also reduce crowds and pressure on the centre during the week and allow patients to visit it during the weekend.
Future expansions are being considered such as extending working days to seven from five in busiest centres in Doha.
Dr Shaikh Edris, Manager, Mesaimer Health Centre, said work during weekends will make it easier for patients to get services they need and that extension of working hours is for the general clinic and specialised clinics are still working on the appointment system.
