Qatar’s contribution to education highlighted

Doha: The Minister of Education and Higher Education and Chairman, Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi praised the country’s contribution to education for all and support for children around the world.
Addressing the National Preparatory Forum on Education Beyond 2015 held by the committee yesterday, he also praised initiatives, including ‘Education Above All’ of H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
“Despite population growth and high rates of immigration into Qatar, we do not have a child out of school,” he said, adding Qatar has absorbed all students and provides them with high-quality education and attractive school environment.
Dr Hamda Hassan Al Sulaiti, Secretary-General of the committee, spoke about ‘Education for All’, steps Qatar has taken to achieve its goals and meet challenges, including early childhood care, basic education (primary, elementary, secondary), youth and adult literacy, life skills, policy and planning, governance, coordination and partnerships, funding and follow-up, monitoring and accountability.
Representatives of the Unesco Office in Doha, Supreme Education Council and national partners discussed the education plan beyond 2015, challenges, priorities, requirements for implementation of the plan and national standards for each goal ahead of a preparatory meeting of a regional conference on Education Beyond 2015 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on January 27-29.
