Dutch university students arriving for study on energy sector

DOHA: A group of 30 post graduate students from the Kingdom of Netherlands will visit Doha tomorrow to learn about Qatar’s energy industry. 

The embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Doha, in collaboration with relevant Qatari partners will receive students from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. 

The students have chosen to study the oil and gas sector in Qatar as a business Model. The delegation will be here until February 6. The participants are Masters Students of Industrial Engineering and Management with physical, chemical and information technology backgrounds.

In their effort to conduct business cases and gain insight on the economic development in Qatar with special focus on the energy sector, the delegation will meet main oil and gas actors to learn about decision and policy making and setting strategies concerning energy businesses in the region. 

The visit will include meetings with Qatar Petroleum, Shell, TNO, Maersk Oil, and visits to Ras Laffan Industrial City and Qatar Science and Technology Park. 

Students will also visit Qatar University where they would meet with field professors and interact with fellow students. The delegation also aims at discussing the possible development of exchange programmes between Qatar University and Groningen University.
