DOHA: Qatar University has chosen energy efficient laser posphor display (LPD) technology of Prysm Inc for its College of Business and Economics, installing a four-metre wide and 2.25 metre high video wall for its multi-purpose meeting hall.
It has also awarded the system integrator, Techno Q, four sites where video walls will be installed in the first half of 2014.
“An LPD video wall uses 75 percent less power than legacy projection solutions previously used in an installation of this kind. With its unsurpassed energy efficiency, Prysm LPD technology lowers cost of ownership, helping meet the university’s sustainability goals,” said Ibrahim Saad, Head of Sales, Techno Q.
LPD technology uses solid state, ultraviolet lasers to deliver stunning image quality and brightness. The energy efficient video walls run cool requiring no upgrades in electrical or HVAC infrastructure.
Scalable to over 100 feet wide, multiple users can interact simultaneously with Prysm video walls through touch, motion sensing and their mobile devices.

LPD video walls will provide the college with an immersive digital canvas for lectures, meetings and corporate events.
It will display video and user-generated content, such as presentations, spreadsheets, design layouts, maps and more.
The LPD platform can also be enhanced to support a wide range of interactivity, including touch, annotation and mobile device interaction.
The university has an ongoing focus on sustainability and has played a leadership role in preserving the environment through solutions that prioritise the use of environment-friendly materials and technologies.
Prysm Inc, which invented LPD technology, is a privately held video wall designer and manufacturer headquartered in Silicon Valley, California.
