Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani attended the ceremony hosted by Qatargas on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the first delivery of Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Japan, held at the Four Seasons Hotel,yesterday.
During the ceremony, a film about the process of cooperation between the State of Qatar and Japan in the field of liquefied natural gas industry was screened. The joint cooperation began on January 10, 1997, when Chubu Electric Co, Qatar's first gas client in Japan, received the first shipment of liquefied natural gas carried by LNG vessel, Al-Zubarah, at Kawagoe LNG terminal in Japan.
Qatargas announced in October last year that it had successfully completed the supply of more than 2,500 cargo of LNG to Japan. The ceremony was held to mark the 20th anniversary of the historic step by Qatargas to become the first company in world in the production of LNG.
