New Delhi: Travelling in trains will become costlier from today as the hike in reservation, tatkal, cancellation fees and some other charges announced in the rail budget will come into effect.
According to railway ministry, reservation fee for AC classes will go up by Rs15 to 25 per ticket while reservation fee for second and sleeper class will remain unchanged.
“The revision will come into effect on tickets issued on and after April 1, 2013,” a ministry release said.
The supplementary charges for superfast trains have been increased by Rs5 for second class and Rs10 for sleeper class. In different AC classes, the hike is in between Rs15 and Rs25.
Tatkal charges have been increased by 10 percent of the basic fare for second class and 30 percent of basic fare for all other AC classes.
In the reserved second class sitting, the minimum tatkal charges will be Rs10 and maximum will be Rs15.
Corresponding tatkal charges for sleeper class will be Rs90 (minimum) and Rs175 (maximum). For other classes, they will be: AC chair car — Rs100 and Rs200, AC-3 tier — Rs250 and Rs350), AC -2 tier — Rs300 and Rs.400), executive class — Rs300 and Rs400.
A revision in clerkage and minimum cancellation charges will also come into effect from today.
Clerkage charge for cancellation of waiting list and RAC tickets will be dearer by Rs5 to Rs10. Cancellation charges have been increased by Rs10 per confirmed ticket in second class to Rs50 in AC classes. IANS
