Amlak’s sustainability efforts win recognition

DOHA: Amlak, an asset management arm of Qatar Foundation (QF), has been awarded by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, on behalf of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and Kahramaa’s National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).
The certificate was presented to Amlak CEO, Abdul Aziz Al Emadi, during the fourth annual celebration of ‘Tarsheed’ in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Dr Mohammad bin Saleh Al Sada, and Kahramaa’s President, Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.
Amlak manages a strategic portfolio of assets that include Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), Al Shaqab Hotel (located in Education City), as well as other projects in hospitality, leisure venues and sport arenas, in addition to residential and commercial sectors.
Amlak was honoured for its efforts and commitment to launch sustainability initiatives with its goal to protect and enhance Qatar’s environment.
Through this award, Amlak  was acknowledged and thanked for partnering with Tarsheed to launch the first ever in Qatar ‘Green Hospitality Award’.
The new award introduced this year commends businesses within Qatar’s hospitality industry that incorporate, support and promote best practices in conservation of energy, water and other natural resources.
Amlak was also recognised for its ongoing efforts to incorporate best practice in the conservation of natural resources during its construction and development of the Qatar International Golf Club (QIGC).
As part of its commitment to the local community the golfing destination under development in the heart of Education City has placed huge importance on sustainability as it strives to build one of the most technologically advanced, innovative and sustainable golf courses in the world.
Al Emadi said: “To be presented this recognition is anhonour. First and foremost Amlak is proudly a Qatari organisation and our mission and values firmly reflect Qatar’s National Vision (QNV 2030). Therefore, sustaining, protecting and enhancing the environment of Qatar is at the heart of everything we do as a business.
Kahramaa Conservation and Energy Efficiency Manager, Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi, said: “We would like to thank all of our partners in the various sectors for supporting the Fourth Annual Ceremony of Tarsheed. I would particularly, like to thank Amlak for partnering with us to launch the “Green Hospitality Award”, which aims to encourage the Conservation and Energy Efficiency, in the hotel industry and generate awareness among all hospitality sectors.”
