PESHAWAR: During the last two months, the online registration of the first information reports (FIRs) by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has provided relief to hundreds of complainants, who were either discouraged by the station house officers (SHOs) in the past or were even reluctant to go to the police stations due to the typical attitude of the cops.
A vast majority of the SHOs in over 200 police stations of the province try hard to avoid registration of FIR in kidnapping, dacoity, robbery, car-lifting and other heinous crimes.
The purpose is to give OK report to the bosses that they are doing well in their respective areas and crime has been brought under control. Thousands of such cases go unreported all over the province every year, resulting in no-confidence by the public over the force.
The KP Police had launched the online FIR system for lodging a case or register a complaint against any policeman through the website of the force: www.kppolice.gov.pk. internews
