BAGHDAD: A senior officer of the Iraq Ministry of Interior survived an assassination attempt by a car bomb Monday morning west of Baghdad.
A car bomb targeted the convoy of the Major-General as it passed near a restaurant in al-Mansour area west of Baghdad, which led to the injury of one of his bodyguards, a policeman and a civilian as well as material damage to one of the vehicles and nearby buildings, police sources said.
Meanwhile, a man and two women from the same family were killed in a bomb explosion north-east of Baquba today.
An explosive device planted on the roadside in the Imam Wais area northeast of Baquba exploded hitting a passing civilian car, killing the man and two women traveling in the car, a security source indicated.
Furthermore, a policeman was critically wounded when an explosive device planted in his car detonated late Sunday in Heet district, west of Anbar province, a police source said.
The blast resulted in amputating the policeman's leg, he added. (QNA)
