Doha: The inaugural Ajyal Youth Film Festival, presented by the Doha Film Institute, announced the winners of the 48-Hour Film Challenge on Friday night, a Doha Film Institute initiative to get teams of aspiring filmmakers from Qatar scripting, shooting, and editing their films and telling their story — from start to finish — in just one weekend.
Winners of the 48-Hour Film Challenge, Jude Keirouz, Ghassan Keirouz, Pascale Abo Jamra, Karl Salameh, for the film Jude and Hisham Madayi, Mubeena Hisham, Fayaz Abdul Salam, Saheer Abdullah for the film Somewhere in Gaza, received video equipment to help with their future projects. Their films were also chosen to be part of the Made in Qatar programme at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival.
Ajyal Youth Film Festival builds on the Doha Film Institute's history of community-based programming. Ajyal invites generations to come together to discuss cinema through workshops that inspire creative interaction, opening up a fun, collaborative environment where young people can express themselves.
