Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has called on consumers to shop responsibly according to their actual needs and to avoid excessive stockpiling, reaffirming that goods and products remain widely available across retail outlets in Qatar.
In a statement published yesterday on X, MoCI stressed the continued availability of essential items at stores nationwide, assuring the public that consumer needs are being met sufficiently and on a regular basis. Authorities emphasised that supply chains remain stable and that the flow of goods into markets continues normally.
MoCI urged residents to rely exclusively on official sources for information and to avoid circulating rumours that could lead to unnecessary panic buying. Consumers were also encouraged to adhere to instructions issued by relevant authorities and to promote a culture of responsible consumption.
As part of its guidance, the Ministry advised shoppers to purchase only what their families require for a reasonable period and to refrain from buying large quantities out of concern or speculation.
Officials highlighted the importance of preparing shopping lists in advance, focusing on essential goods such as food items, necessary medications, and children’s supplies, while avoiding random or unnecessary purchases.
The Ministry further recommended distributing purchases across different retail outlets rather than concentrating demand at a single store.
Shopping at alternative branches, when available, can help reduce crowding and ensure that goods remain accessible to all consumers.
Earlier, the MoCI announced that retail operations have been strengthened to support market stability.
Coordination with sales outlets has enabled 22 major branches across various areas of the country to operate around the clock, ensuring continuous access to goods and facilitating smooth replenishment. The Ministry reiterated that inspection field teams continue to conduct intensive monitoring campaigns at sales outlets and markets.
These inspection rounds are aimed at overseeing supply conditions, verifying product availability, ensuring price stability, and detecting any violations.
Authorities affirmed that legal measures will be taken against offenders in accordance with applicable regulations.
The MoCI reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to safeguarding consumers and maintaining market balance.
Residents were encouraged to report any observations or violations through official communication channels, underscoring the ministry’s dedication to protecting consumer rights and preserving economic stability.
