Al Rayyan’s talismanic captain Rodrigo Tabata and Umm Salal head coach Mahmoud Jaber have been awarded the QSL player of the month and QSL coach of the month for February-March respectively.
The Lions striker has been in fine goal scoring from in February and March notching six goals and four assists over the five games. This included a well taken hat-trick as Al Rayyan humbled Al Wakrah 4-0.
Tabata has been a constant threat for Al Rayyan rivals over the two months and this is highlighted with 11.6 penalty area entries over the period, considerably more than the average player in the league. Whilst the Al Rayyan captain is not afraid to shoot in front of goal, notching 2.2 shots from outside the penalty box per game.
On the other hand, Jaber has enjoyed a undefeated run during the two months at The Orange fortress, picking up a total of nine points from five games in the league. Umm Salal enjoyed two wins in the run including a fine performance to end Lekhwiya’s undefeated streak in the league with a 3-1 victory. Whilst Umm Salal also picked up three draws, which included a notable 0-0 draw with title chasing Al Sadd to round off the month of March.
Jaber’s side have created on average 10 chances per game and found the back of the net on five occasions in five QSL games. Central to Umm Salal’s success has been their miserly defense which has conceded only two times in five occasions.
