Playing national emergency alert sounds in public may lead to legal action: MoI

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior has issued a public notice urging the public to refrain from playing videos or audio recordings that include the National Warning System alert sound.

In a statement released on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the Ministry emphasized that using these alert tones as mobile phone ringtones or broadcasting them in gatherings and public places could cause panic and disrupt public tranquility.

The Ministry highlighted the importance of public responsibility and community awareness, stressing that misuse of the National Warning System is a violation of regulations and may result in legal accountability.

The Ministry also called on citizens and residents to report such incidents by contacting (999).
