LONDON: Libya's crude oil output has risen to 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) and full production could be restored within days once the government resolves strikes that have blocked oilfields and ports, Oil Minister Abdelbari Arusi said on Wednesday.
"We're expecting to solve this issue any time," Arusi said at an energy conference in London.
"By solving this issue we can have oil production back to 1.6 million barrels a day."
He said that production could return to normal in three to four days once strikes have been settled.
Before major disruptions began at the end of July, Libya was pumping about 1.4 million bpd.
A combination of strikes, militias and political activists have blocked the majority of Libya's oilfields and ports since the end of July and the government's fledgling army and police force has struggled to deal with armed protesters. (Reuters)
