DOHA: Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC), the leading provider of primary materials in Qatar, will expand its dune sand operations. After a meeting with Qatar Chamber (QC) recently ,QPMC announced that it has introduced new changes to its dune sand production and handling process. The development is a result of some concerns raised by one of the company’s clients regarding sand distribution process, QPMC said.
QPMC said its sand dune operations are set to get a boost with the opening of a new site in Al Kharara. The company has increased site work time to 12 hours to ensure operational efficiency is maintained. The new site, with a four entry gates, is close to a main toad to optimize transportation. The six-lane truck waiting area is expected to reduce traffic.  Eisa Al Hammadi, Chief Executive Officer,QPMC (pictured), said: “QPMC has developed its operations in collaboration with the private sector, especially when it comes to dune sand – and this has garnered incredible interest from the ministry of municipality and environment, as well as Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi.”
“ We are pleased to receive private sector suggestions when it comes to improving our processes, and we are happy to meet with them in the presence of appropriate government and company officials to address their suggestions and establish solutions, he added.”
Al Hammadi said QPMC is committed to finding appropriate resolutions when it comes to its stakeholders, and to continue developing the construction primary material sector in Qatar. The company has witnessed a vast expansion in the last couple of years in terms of its operations; QPMC today handles a daily capacity of 40,000 cubic meters of dune sand, and the company is always trying to enhance its products and services to support Qatar’s urban construction.”
“QPMC has demonstrated its staunch commitment to collaborating with its private sector clients; the company aligns with them to ensure that industry best practices are maintained, and always listens to its stakeholders’ suggestions and solutions to ensure that these practices are brought to life.”
“ This has a positive effect on all concerned parties, and on the development of the sector in a way that is beneficial to Qatar itself,” said  Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, Qatar Chamber Board Member.
The Al Kharara site can meet the local demand for seven months, in addition to other solutions that aim to facilitate the process and limit any delays that negatively impact transportation.
Working hours have been increased to 12 hours (from 5 am till 5pm) to ensure that operational requirements are being met and four entrances have been assigned for the location to avoid traffic and delays in addition to creating a 6 lanes truck waiting area to reduce traffic. The new location is just 3km away from the main road.
In addition, there will always be coordination between all concerned parties. Currently QPMC is working with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to assign new locations for dune sand supply in order to maintain a continuous flow of the material.
The Ministry will assign additional locations three months prior to the end of current site resources. An office for the Road and Transport Authority has also been established on site to ensure that all traffic issues are appropriately attended to, while an additional office for the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has also been installed for the purposes of ensuring operational efficiently. In addition, monthly reports will be submitted to the Ministry to evaluate the site situation and the remaining sand quantities, QPM said.
