DOHA: Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) yesterday held election of the student parliament to elect Head Boy and Head Girl for the academic year 2018-19. The move is helpful for overall grooming of the children and to instil democratic values in their personality, said a release.
Wahab Malik and Ayesha Habib were declared the heads of the parliament from their respective wings. Muhammad Ahmed and Wahab Malik were the nominees for the Head Boy from Boys Wing, whereas, Maryam Hazrat, Amna Saleem and Ayesha Habib were the candidates for the Head Girls from Girls’ Wing. At the end of the polling, the results were announced.
The election was an event full of excitement, both for the contestants and their supporters. The campaign continued for a few days where the contestants tried to convince the students to support them and vote for them. They also presented their plans to be a bridge between the students and the administration.
The elections for the parliament were compiled in two phases. In the first phase, the students elected class monitors through balloting.
In the second phase of the election, all the students of the school exercised their right to vote for the election of the Head Boy and the Head Girl.
The balloting process was monitored by Nargis Raza Otho, the Principal of PISQ. Before the elections, she addressed the students and emphasised the importance of right to vote, instructing them to make a fair use of their vote for the capable candidates.
Pakistan International School also organised an oath-taking ceremony for Head Boy and Head Girl, Prefects and Monitors (Grade I-XII) on September 25, in Arbab Auditorium for the academic session 2018 – 2019. The ceremony started with the recitation from the Holy Quran.
Then the Principal took an oath from the Head Boy (Wahab Malik), Head Girl (Ayesha Habib), all the Monitors and Prefects, respectively. The Prefects and Monitors solemnly pledged to be active, friendly, cooperative, disciplined and responsible and abide by all the rules and regulations of the school.
