Doha: The Minister of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) H E Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani honoured a citizen for saving a sea cow stuck in a net. The Minister also praised Muhammad Ali Al-Kubaisi for his efforts in protecting the marine environment.
In a social media post, MoECC shared short footage of how a sea cow was freed from a fishing net, which was tangled on its body.
In a separate post, Al Kubaisi spoke about the importance of preserving a healthy marine environment in Qatar.

"The sea is our second home, and we have to preserve it in terms of cleanliness, protection of fisheries, and removing all encroachments harmful to the environment," he said in a video shared by the Ministry.
"This is our duty and the rights of future generations," he added.
Director of the Public Relations Department, Farhoud Hadi Al-Hajri, also appreciated the initiative of a fellow citizen.
He said that the initiative of Muhammad Ali Al-Kubaisi "indicates the national sense and the distinguished environmental awareness which we hope will be widespread among all seafarers as well as in the wild environment."
He also hoped that this would enhance cooperation among citizens and residents in the country to preserve the environment of Qatar.
