Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday sent a cable of congratulations to the president of Italy on the occasion of his country's National Day.
The Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani also sent similar cables to the president of Italy.
Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has honoured 98 Qatari students who completed the preliminary stage in learning the Holy Quran, as well as teachers at memorisation centres.
The head of the section of the Holy Quran and its Sciences at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Sultan Saad Al Badr, praised the government’s efforts for encouragement of memorisation of the Holy Quran and support for memorisation centres.
Colombo: The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, D M Jayaratne, yesterday met with Qatar’s Ambassador Said bin Abdullah Al Mansouri on the occasion of the end of his tour of duty.
The Sri Lankan prime minister hailed relations between the two countries, noting the efforts made by the ambassador during his tenure to develop these relations.
