Flames rise from tyres as workers stand near a barricade blocking the entrance of US tyre-maker Goodyear’s plant to protest job cuts in Amiens, northern France, yesterday. It confirmed in January the project to close the French plant which would lead to the layoff of 1,173 jobs.
