Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) offers a streamlined e-service to transition from one employer to another for individuals in Qatar working in the public, private, or domestic sectors.
This e-service is available for workers residing in Qatar, and they must possess a valid QID number, in addition to a locally registered mobile number in their name.
The request can be submitted by either the worker or the new employer, and is only done via the Ministry’s official online platform: https://www.mol.qov.qa
The new employer should follow these steps:
- In the platform’s “log in” window, select Establishments Portal for Establishments or Labors and Individuals for domestic workers, and then log in using the smart card (for establishments) or National Authentication System (for domestic workers).
- Once logged in, choose 'My Services' on the home page, then select 'Change of employer within the labour market' and click 'Apply'.
- Choose the type of the current employer and the type of new employer from the list, then press 'Go to service'.
- Enter the application details and the new contract details, and then send the request after thorough checking of all provided information. A message should appear saying “Request Submitted Successfully.”
- The worker will then receive an SMS and will have three days to review and take action as he can either approve or reject the request but must do it within this period. If no action is taken, the application will be automatically rejected.
After the aforementioned step is taken, the worker must take action by following these steps:
- In the platform’s “log in” window, click on the Labors and Individuals Portal, then press ‘My Requests,’ then press ‘Search’
- After select the request, press ‘Take Action,’ and verify the details.
- If the worker agrees with their current employer to relinquish the notice period then choose the ‘Yes’ option in its specific section.
- Finally, worker should click on ‘Approve’ if they approve of the contract period. A message saying ‘Request Approved Successfully’ will then appear, confirming an action has been taken by the worker.
The e-service also offers an optional feature allowing the current employer to waive or reduce the legally prescribed notice period through the platform.
Alternatively, employers can submit comments related to the notice period with the request, if applicable to be reviewed by the Ministry.
A service is also available for employers wishing to waive the notice period in advance for multiple workers via the ‘Advance Waiver of the Notice Period’ service.
The employers wishing to use this service should follow these steps:
- Log in, and then navigate to ‘My Requests,’ and click on 'Take action.'
- Verify the worker's details and then press the checkmark to waive the notice period or decrease the period days.
- Click on 'Yes' to modify the notice period, and if the current employer has any concerns, he or she may send his notes and attach a support document form subsequently.
- Finally, click on 'Modify the notice period.' A message saying 'Request Submitted Successfully' should appear.
