Doha, Qatar: The Behavioural Health Support Center (Daam) continues its efforts to strengthen positive behaviours among young people and equip them with the skills needed to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing society, according to Andalus Ibrahim, Community Awareness Officer at the Center.
Speaking to Qatar TV recently, Ibrahim said the Center implements a comprehensive annual plan that includes a variety of awareness programmes and activities aimed at promoting positive behaviours and transforming correct conduct into lasting and sustainable habits among individuals.
“We focus on building young people’s confidence and enhancing their ability to face societal challenges and changes,” Ibrahim said, noting that childhood, adolescence, and youth are critical stages that require targeted support and guidance. She added that parents are among the key groups targeted through the Center’s awareness initiatives.
The Center’s programmes seek to reinforce positive behaviours while discouraging negative ones. Among the behavioural issues receiving particular attention are bullying, aggression, vandalism of public property, and electronic addiction, all of which are considered harmful behaviours that can negatively impact individuals and society.
At the same time, the Center works to promote ethical values and positive conduct, with a strong emphasis on strengthening national identity among young people. Ibrahim highlighted that fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility is one of the Center’s core priorities.
Established in 2014, the Behavioural Health Support Center aims to enhance behavioural health across society and support children, adolescents, and young adults in addressing behavioural deviations and disorders. The Center provides a range of awareness, treatment, rehabilitation, and training services designed to improve psychological and behavioural well-being.
The Center’s strategic objectives include promoting behavioural health among groups most vulnerable to behavioural disorders, providing treatment and follow-up care for behavioural deviations, creating a safe therapeutic and counselling environment for beneficiaries, collaborating with relevant institutions on rehabilitation and reintegration programmes, and developing supportive systems and mechanisms that contribute to strengthening behavioural health within the community.
Through its ongoing initiatives, the Center seeks to cultivate a healthier social environment and empower future generations with the values, confidence, and resilience needed to contribute positively to society.
