MES Indian School marks Indian Independence Day

Doha, Qatar: MES Indian School, Doha, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration was graced by Chief Guest, Hazmal Ismail, President (Officiating), Dr Najeeb K P, General Secretary, Najeeb M A, Director, Shaheed Alungath, Director MES. Governing Board and Abdul Fathah, member of School Governing Body, Principal (Officiating), school officials, staff, parents and students.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag by the Chief Guest, Hazmal Ismail, followed by the National Anthem led by the School Choir.

The gathering was formally welcomed by Head Boy, Master Ishan bin Thasneef, who delivered the welcome address. The celebration featured a patriotic song and an energetic patriotic dance by the students, choreographed by Jency George, which added vibrancy and enthusiasm to the occasion.

The Principal (Officiating), addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Independence Day, recalling the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and emphasising the responsibility of the younger generation to uphold the values of freedom, unity, integrity and to become responsible citizens.

On this occasion, Dr. Najeeb K P, General Secretary, along with the school management, school officials, staff, and students, marked the celebration with a ceremonial cake-cutting, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.

The programme was compered by Head Prefects Afthab Basheer and Amina Shahal, who guided the proceedings with confidence and enthusiasm. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Head Girl, Evelyn Johnly, who expressed gratitude to the attendees.

As an Indian school in Qatar, the celebration also reflected the strong bonds of friendship and mutual respect between India and Qatar, while expressing gratitude for the peaceful and welcoming environment provided by the host country.

The programme was coordinated by Steeson Mathew, Jency George, Karishma K M, Anjusha K R, Jisha Ginesh and Sibi Daniel.

The cooperation of the school management, school officials, staff and parents contributed significantly to the success of the celebration. The event concluded with a renewed sense of patriotism and a commitment to uphold the ideals and values of the nation.
