Customs officials seize 6kg marijuana at Muscat airport

Doha, Qatar: Oman customs officials have arrested a passenger and seized 17 packages of marijuana weighing 6.179 kilograms at Muscat International Airport recently.

According to the authorities, the drugs were discovered concealed inside the travelers luggage during inspection procedures at the airport. 

The passenger was subsequently detained, and the seized narcotics were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.

Under Omani law, drug smuggling and trafficking offences carry severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences and substantial fines. 

Authorities continue to intensify border control measures in response to drug seizures reported across airports, seaports, and land crossings.
