Doha: Qatar Airways (QA) yesterday commenced daily, non-stop services between Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The new route increases QA’s global network to seven gateways within the US and 144 destinations worldwide.
Dallas/Fort Worth becomes QA’s second destination in Texas, representing the airline’s commitment to the region.
Along with Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth will serve as a crucial junction between QA’s global network, via Doha, and other key destinations across the southwestern US, including Austin, San Antonio and Oklahoma City, through its oneworld alliance partners.
“We are delighted to welcome Dallas/Fort Worth into our expanding global network,” said CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
“We are pleased to begin serving the home city of our oneworld alliance partner American Airlines. Together, we can provide North Texas and the surrounding region with unparalleled service and better connections to Doha and around the world.”
Dallas/Fort Worth is a world centre for major US corporations, including Justin Boots, Texas Instruments, Frito Lay and AT&T. The region is also home to major oil and gas companies, including ExxonMobil.
“Our partnership with QA and today’s inaugural flight from Doha is exciting for the airport and the millions of passengers we serve. Dallas/Fort Worth customers now have non-stop access to a new destination in the Gulf,” said Sean Donohue, CEO, DFW Airport. “DFW is an integral economic driver to the region and this new service will add about $200m annually to our economy.”
The new route flies daily, departing from Doha at 8:10am and arriving at Dallas/Fort Worth at 3:35pm the same day.
Overnight service to Doha departs Dallas/Fort Worth at 8pm and lands in Doha at 6:20pm the following day.
The route is operated with a Boeing 777-200LR configured with 217 Economy Class and 42 Business Class seats. Outbound passengers to Doha will enjoy fast, convenient connections to key destinations throughout the world, including Delhi, Beijing, Tokyo, Bangkok and Perth via HIA.
