Doha: More than 150 secondary school students were recently given a fascinating insight into the life and experiences of young Qatari scientists and engineers and the exciting environment of the oil and gas industry. This is part of RasGas Company Limited’s (RasGas) activities aimed at attracting young Qataris into the engineering field and support of the Al Bairaq programme, a press release issued by RasGas said.
Held over two consecutive days at the company’s headquarters in West Bay, the interactive sessions allowed male and female Qatari students to learn about chemical, mechanical and petroleum engineering in practice. Six Qatari engineers from RasGas joined the students to share their experiences in engineering as an educational and professional career choice. The students were also provided with an overview on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry.
“RasGas recognises that engaging Qatari secondary school students from all over Qatar to learn about engineering is critical for the long-term development of their future educational and professional careers. Sessions like these are part of a larger scheme for attracting the best and brightest Qatari, and in particular female talent to the LNG industry,” said Abdulrahman Al Mannai, Learning and Development manager at RasGas.
