Doha: Qatar Paving Stones (QPS), a subsidiary of Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC), marked the receipt of its ISO certification with a grand celebration yesterday at the QIMC corporate headquarters here. The ISO 9001:2008 certification was conferred by renowned international firm TÜV SÜD as a ratification of QPS’s Quality Management System being up to international standard requirements.
“The commitment from top management towards continual improvement of the Quality Management System has been a key driver towards ISO certification for QPS,” said Ramesh Lingan, Lead Auditor, TÜV SÜD. “In our onsite audits we have found QPS product quality and adherence to standards to set new benchmarks in the region. We observed that prompt responses to customer requirements have led to a high customer satisfaction index.”
The groundwork towards establishing QPS’s new Quality Management System began in February 2012 in collaboration with Rastec Consultants. After being carefully planned and systematically implemented, the system was ready for ISO audit by August.
“The quick turnaround and efficient execution would not have been possible without the complete support of QPS management, section heads and staff,” said Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of QIMC.
The ISO certification applies to all administrative and technical operations of the plant, which manufactures paving stones and kerbstones in a wide range of shapes and colours.
