Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has highlighted two key residency services available through the Metrash application, allowing users to obtain a sponsor's approval for changing employers or request an exemption from the legal period for staying outside the country without visiting the General Directorate of Passports or Unified Services Centres.

In a video shared on its official social media platforms, the ministry said the digital services are part of ongoing efforts to simplify procedures, improve accessibility and raise awareness of the growing number of services available through the Metrash app.

For sponsor approval to transfer a resident to a new employer, users should access the Residency section in Metrash, select Change Employer, choose Issue Sponsor Approval under the service type, enter the resident's Qatar ID number, and select Change to New Employer under Type of NOC.

To request an exemption from the legal period spent outside Qatar, users should follow the same steps but select Legal Period Outside Country under Type of NOC.

After reviewing the entered information and confirming the request, the No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be generated through the application.

The latest awareness campaign is part of the ministry's broader drive to expand digital government services through Metrash. In recent weeks, the ministry has also highlighted services allowing users to submit confidential information to the Criminal Investigation Department, track official documents sent through Qatar Post, approve and update expatriate employment contracts before arrival in Qatar, and pay Qatar Visa Centre (QVC) fees and book medical examination appointments electronically.

These initiatives aim to reduce the need for in-person visits while enhancing the efficiency and convenience of government services for residents and citizens.
