Tenders invited for Sheikh Hamad Residential City project in Gaza

DOHA: The Qatar Committee for Reconstruction of Gaza has invited tenders for four major development projects in the Gaza city including the design for the proposed Sheikh Hamad Residential City.

This constitutes the first phase of a combination of projects funded by Qatar in Gaza costing a total of $254m, the Al Arqam Arabic news portal has reported quoting Mohammed Al Emadi, the Qatari ambassador to Gaza and chairman of the committee.

The five-storey Sheikh Hamad Residential City costing $30m will have 1,000 residential units, with other facilities including school, health center and green areas.

The other three projects are the 35 km Al Rasheed road to be built at an estimated cost of $50m, the 10km Al Karama road ($18m) and the 28km Salahaddin Road costing $60m.

Tenders for the second phase of the projects will also be announced soon, said Al Emadi. This will include agriculture and poultry projects worth a total of $512m and residential projects worth $32m.
