DOHA: Coach Fahad Thani is expected to announce the national squad within two days for Qatar’s 2015 Asian Cup qualifier to be held in Doha on October 15.
According to a news report yesterday, Qatar are battling goalkeeper crisis as top choices Kabir Haris, Baba Malick and Qasim Burhan are struggling with injuries.
Ahmed Sufiyan and Saoud Al Khater are the other goalkeeping names for coach Fahad to consider, the report added.
Qatar play Yemen on October 15 in Doha followed by a return match against the same opposition on November 15.
Four days later on November 19, Qatar will take on hosts Malaysia.
Last month, Qatar drew against Lebanon (1-1) and beat Mauritius 3-0 in two friendlies.
Once Fahad announces his squad, the players will assemble for their training camp at Aspire Academy.
The qualification for the tournament matches will determine the participating teams for the event to be held in Australia. THE PENINSULA
