Doha: Qatar has condemned the Israeli government’s decision approving the construction of 1,500 housing units at Ramat Shlomo settlement in East Jerusalem.
An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Ministry said in remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday that the settlement decision constitutes a breach of international law, and a challenge to the international community, through which Israel is trying to impose a new geographic reality in occupied Jerusalem.
He pointed that Israel’s settlement and expansion practices, completely ignore the international resolutions and references upon which the peace process is based. The international community is demanded to take a firm stand obliging Israel to freeze settlement activities, the source concluded.
