DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce reported 82 violations across Doha in December.
Inspectors from the Consumer Protection Department raided several outlets and detected 21 violations, including failure to provide product description, not showing it properly or giving fake descriptions, according to a statement by the ministry yesterday.
The ministry also fined 16 outlets for not displaying prices and fined seven shops for selling expired goods.
Traders were also fined for displaying products outside their premises without permission, reducing prices without permission, not displaying announcements in Arabic, and selling goods not complying with standards set by the authorities.
The ministry said violations had dropped in December compared to previous months and attributed the decline to the department’s effort to reach out to all traders during inspection campaigns. Fines included from QR6,000 to QR30,000 in addition to temporary closures based on violations. The Peninsula
