The second day of the Arabian Peninsula Horse Show of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022) continued to provide absorbing action with the finest purebreds being displayed and vying for top prizes in various categories at the spectacular arena at Katara Esplanade yesterday.
As many as 239 finest pure-breds from five countries have entered the first-ever Arabian Peninsula Horse Show which carries a total prize of QR3,093,500 in addition to cars and other prizes.
The 11-day long KIAHF 2022 has a total prize-money of QR 17,085,500 which also includes The Auction on February 7 and the prestigious Title Show Championships from February 9 to 12.
Title Show Manager Bader Mohammed Al Darwish, also President of the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Feder-ation praised the distinctive atmosphere and the large par-ticipation of horse owners in Qatar and the region.
Al Darwish said: “The festival aims to support the ancient Qatari heritage in the field of equestrianism to spread it glo-bally, and to enhance the status of the original and unique Arabian horses at the various local, regional and global levels.”
He added that the festival is one of the largest sporting events in the field of equestrianism, stressing it includes many activ-ities which provide the event a distinctive character as it includes the competitions of the Arabian Peninsula Horse Show Championships, The Auction, and The Title Show, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious tourna-ments in the region.
He pointed out that KIAHF is a wonderful experience and a distinctive blend of past, present and the future, and it is an important step to link the bonds of relations between the world of purebred Arabian horses and the general public who are looking forward to discovering everything that is distinctive, beautiful, diverse and interesting. He wished success to all partic-ipants at the festival.
In yesterday’s Arabian Peninsula Horse Show events, Sinan El Alya of El Alya Stud, and Theeban Al Rayyan of Al Rayyan Farm were adjudged as best in the Yearling Colts category.D K’hailan of Dubai Arabian Stud in the Colts 2 Years Old (Class 5); Nibras Aljassimya of Aljassimya Farm in the Colts 3 Years Old (Class 6); Hessa Al Rayyan of Al Rayyan Farm in the Mares 4 to 6 Years Old (Class 7A); and Shahrazad Al Waab of Al Waab Farm in the Mares 4 to 6 Years Old (Class 7B) were best in their classes respectively.
Meanwhile, winners for Yearling Colts (Class 4A) are Sinan El Alya, Sultan Al Sraiya, and Mothhel Al Fahed.
For Yearling Colts (Class 4B), first place was bagged by Theeban Al Rayyan, followed by Shehab Al Farres 90.88pts, and Ghazal Al Jassasiya. Under the Colts 2 Years Old (Class 5), winner is D K’hailan, followed by Yazeed Al Rayyan, and Mutabahi Al Waab.
And for Colts 3 Years Old (Class 6), first placer is Nibras Aljassimya; second placer, Afas Al Rayyan and third placer is Auf Al Shaqab.
Under the Mares 4 to 6 Years Old (Class 7A) category, winner is Hessa Al Rayyan, followed by Bidayat Ibn Salamah, and Barizzah Sharq. And under the Mares 4 to 6 Years Old (Class 7B), first placer is Shahrazad Al Waab; followed by Gharafa Al Shaqab and Juhayna Al Nasser.
KIAHF will run until February 12 at Katara Esplanade
