ISTANBUL--The Turkish lira weakened to a fresh record low of 2.55 against the dollar on Wednesday as the U.S. currency's gains to 11-year highs added to lira woes generated by pressure on the Turkish central bank from President Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish currency, which has lost around 9 percent of its value so far this year, edged back to 2.5477 by 1423 GMT, after touching the 2.55 low.
