DOHA: Weissmuller made a winning start to his new season, capturing the feature Sealine Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse as Hamad Al Jehani enjoyed an outstanding day with four winners at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s fourth meeting.

Ridden by Szczepan Mazur, the four-year-old bay gelding made all in the 1400m Thoroughbred Conditions contest for four-year-olds and older, dictating the pace from the outset before holding on gamely to win by half a length.

Owned by Yousef Ali Al Rumaihi, Weissmuller secured the fifth victory of his career, with the feature success also giving Mazur one of his two wins on the nine-race card.

The Sealine Cup was presented by Saad Ali Al Kubaisi, Deputy Director of the QREC Registration and Studbook Department.

The jockey’s other success came aboard La Quyood in the Purebred Arabian Conditions contest, where the Al Jehani-trained runner won by 1½ lengths.

Al Jehani also celebrated victories with Chaconne, who won the Thoroughbred Conditions race by 2¼ lengths under Nicolas Baudet, and Wahdan, who took the Purebred Arabian Maiden by 2½ lengths with Lukas Delozier in the saddle.

Seagolazo secured the Thoroughbred Handicap 70-90 for trainer Gassim Al Ghazali and jockey Marco Casamento, winning by half a length. Prince D’ossau claimed the Purebred Arabian Handicap 50-70, scoring by two lengths for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki and jockey Faleh Bughenaim.

Tiswahum won the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden by 1¼ lengths for trainer Ahmed Al Jehani, with Baudet riding the winner to his second success of the meeting.

Grendel Al Shahania edged Diva Al Shahania by a short head in the Purebred Arabian Maiden for trainer Rudy Nerbonne and jockey Delozier.
