ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday filed his nomination papers for the prime minister's office in the National Assembly.

Earlier on June 3, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Javed Hashmi filed his nomination papers at the National Assembly secretariat for the election of the leader of the house.

Moreover, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has already announced to support Sharif in the premier’s election and would not field any candidate in the race.

Newly-elected members of the National Assembly will vote for the future prime minister in the parliamentary session on June 5.

The oath taking ceremony for the prime minister will be held at the President House on Wednesday evening.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari will administer the oath to the new prime minister.

Yesterday, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was elected as Speaker of the National Assembly or the lower house of the parliament in the country.

Sadiq became the 14th Speaker of the National Assembly in Pakistan after he secured 258 votes of the total 313 polled in the 342-member of the National Assembly, announced the outgoing Speaker Dr. Fahmida Mirza. (QNA)
