Doha: Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi honoured the school assessment specialist who obtained the license of an accredited international assessor from the American ACS WASC School Accreditation Organization.
This came during an honoring ceremony held by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in the presence of H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of Education and Higher Education, and the assistant undersecretaries, directors of departments and heads of departments in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
In his speech, during the ceremony that took place at theater hall in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education building, which is located in Al-Qutayfiya, Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs Khaled Al-Harqan emphasized: The field of school accreditation in education is considered one of the major issues in the world, because of its importance in achieving qualitative reform in the educational system with all its elements, and at the same time it shows strengths and areas of improvement that contribute to addressing many of the fundamental educational and organizational challenges in schools.
Al-Harqan said, "In the evaluation affairs sector, we were keen to focus on developing school performance evaluation processes using international standards and indicators that were established according to accurate scientific rules to make honest and objective judgments about evaluating all areas of educational operations for schools and kindergartens in the State of Qatar, in order to ensure that every student in our schools receives a high-level education in accordance with his educational needs, Islamic values and national identity.
He added, "The school evaluation system was launched in the State of Qatar in 2006, and the national school accreditation system was launched in 2011, where nearly 1,000 school evaluation and accreditation processes have been implemented for public and private schools and kindergartens since 2006 until now."
Director of the School Evaluation Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Mona Al-Kuwari said, "The State of Qatar is the first in the world to have a school assessment specialist granted an accredited international assessor license, as a training program was designed and implemented with the American ACS WASC organization."
The American ACS WASC Accreditation Organization is a well-established global accrediting organization and one of six regional accrediting organizations in the United States of America that works closely with the Office of Overseas Schools under the supervision of the US Department of Education and the US Department of State, and has more than sixty years of experience in the field of school accreditation.
