DOHA: Qatar Foundation for Combating human trafficking (QFCHT) has completed a volunteer programme ‘Mark in my life IV’, which is for the fourth consecutive year.

The programme hosted nearly 35 students from Independent and international schools. Two workshops were held at the Crown Plaza hotel, entitled ‘The phenomenon of human trafficking’ presented by Wojud Hassan, QFCHT expert.

He spoke about the dangers, and forms of the crime and educated students on methods used by traffickers to hunt victims. The second workshop was presented by Aisha Sinani, QFCHT researcher, who spoke about QFCHT and Qatari House for Lodging and humane care; their role, services, programmes and measures taken to help victims.

A documentary film Innocent Trade was screened. It is about  the smuggling and sale of underage girls and prostitution, and international efforts to combat the phenomenon.

A number of visits were organised for the students, including a visit to the United Nations Centre for Documentation and Training in the field of human rights.

The centre’s Deputy Director, Farid Hamdan, gave a lecture in which he spoke about the establishment of the centre and its member countries and screened a film on human rights in India and humanitarian violations.

He also spoke about methods of protection.

Another visit was arranged for students to Al Arabi Sports Club where students practised sports.

The visit aimed to develop social trends and ethical behaviour and attitudes through collective and individual games and equip them with confidence and develop the spirit of sport.

The events of ‘Mark in My Life IV’ programme were concluded by two workshops by Ashraf Radwan, QFCHT Programme Specialist and T.
