Cairo: The Arab League praised Vietnam's supportive positions regarding the Palestinian cause, the principle of the two-state solution, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as Palestine's quest for full membership in the United Nations.
This came during a meeting on Monday between Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
During the meeting, Aboul Gheit emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between the Arab League and its member states with Vietnam, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two sides in 2023, and hoped to activate cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, technology, innovation, and culture.
For his part, the Vietnamese President affirmed his country's genuine desire to advance Arab-Vietnamese relations, contributing to prosperity and development for both sides.
During his meeting with Arab League member state permanent representatives, President Cuong expressed his country's aspiration to develop bilateral cooperative relations and presented his country's perspective on regional and international developments and its future vision for Arab-Vietnamese relations.
