DOHA: Citizens wanting to recruit housemaids or other workers under their personal sponsorship can now apply for approval through their mobile phones using Metrash 2 service.
This is an additional service the Ministry of Interior is offering through its Metrash 2 mobile application. The applicants can also follow up on approvals received before using this service.
Citizens can seek approval to recruit a maximum four workers under their personal sponsorship through the new service, Brigadier Abdullah Salim Al Ali, director of General Directorate of Border Passports and Expatriate Affairs, said in a statement yesterday.
The service is available to only those who are married provided their status is shown in the Ministry of Interior website.
He added that the service will enable Qataris to obtain the approval directly. They can choose from the nationalities (of workers) given in the application form and complete the procedure within seconds without visiting the Immigration Department’s headquarters or the service centres of the Ministry of Interior.
Metrash2 mobile app is a smart application through which citizens and residents can avail of more than 35 services of the Ministry from anywhere in the world.
More than 22,000 people have joined the Metrash2 service until now, said the Ministry. The service can be activated either through self-service kiosks of the Ministry or by SMS. If activated through kiosks using smart ID cards first part of activation code will be printed from the machine and second part will be sent by SMS.
